\nAbout Taizé\nWhat is a Taizé Contemplative Worship Experience? It is
named after a small village called Taizé in France which\, since 1940\,
has been the home of an ecumenical Christian monastic community. Members o
f the Taizé community belong to several different Christian denominations
. Catholics\, Anglicans\, Protestants\, Orthodox and others live and pray
together in multiple languages\, share a simple life and welcome thousands
of visitors and pilgrims who come to spend time with them every year from
all over the world.\nTaizé Contemplative Worship Experiences are compris
ed of silence and song\, candlelight and stillness\, prayer and contemplat
ion. The music is unique and distinctive. Taizé chants featuring deceptiv
ely simple refrains that are repeated\, mantra-like\, by the gathered cong
regation\, and occasionally\, instrumental and vocal soloists add verses o
n top of the repeated refrains.\nThe music is accessible\, participatory\,
and meditative.\nAll who attend are invited to sink into the experience\,
to pray\, and to use the silence and meditative music as an opportunity t
o listen to the “still\, small voice” within.\nCome as you are and exp
 erience the peace.
