Extreme Weather Shelter Volunteer opportunities available.

During an Extreme Weather Alert (EWA), additional shelter capacity in the Tri-Cities is provided by opening an EWS at Trinity United Church, 2211 Prairie Ave, Port Coquitlam. An EWA is declared during periods of inclement weather when conditions become sufficiently severe to jeopardize the safety and health of persons living outdoors in the Tri-Cities. For each day that the Alert is in effect, Trinity United Church will coordinate volunteers to provide a hot evening meal, a warm, safe place to sleep, breakfast, a bag lunch and clothing for up to 20 homeless persons aged 19 years or older. In previous years of the program, Trinity has welcomed volunteers from the community. The enthusiasm of the volunteers has been uplifting for both the clients and the volunteers. If you know of anyone who would be interested in being involved, we would appreciate any and all help. Volunteers are welcome for morning and evening shifts, to help with grocery shopping, or to make an occasional trip to the laundromat. The donation of goods, of financial help, and prayers are welcome too!

Contact the Inlet United Church office and we will put you in touch with their coordinator.

Red Cross Volunteer opportunities available in their Health Equipment Lending program in every community in the lower mainland. More information here.
