Lynda, completed her Master’s in Public and Pastoral Ministry at the Vancouver School of Theology. A passionate Social Justice Advocate from an early age, Lynda has integrated her previous multi-faith, multi-cultural leadership roles, with progressive contemporary theological perspectives, and recently completed a Diploma in Diaconal Ministry through the Centre for Christian Studies.
In addition to ordered ministry in the United Church of Canada, Lynda holds certifications as a Canadian Mental Health Trauma Interventionist, and a Community Lay-Counsellor. In 2021 Lynda was selected by the United Church of Canada’s Diaconal Committee to be among three Canadian Ministry Representatives sent to take part in Project DOVE (Diaconia Opposing Violence Exchange) at La Posada Providencia, an emergency shelter for families seeking asylum, on the Texas/Mexico border.
Before ministry in the church, Lynda’s career foci supported disenfranchised adults, including Elders and 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth, overcome homelessness, trauma and intergenerational cultural bias. Lynda was one of two Life-Skills Coaches supporting women and youth in recovery at Servants Anonymous Society in Surrey; an Instructor at Sprott-Shaw Community College; the Community Grants Manager at Jewish Seniors Alliance: and the Director of Economic Development at 411 Seniors in Vancouver BC.
Lynda was most recently involved in collaborating with Inlet’s Staff Team led by Lead Minister Rev. Jenn, to host the Empowering Voices Conference, in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their Allies. She is passionate about bringing the relevance of scripture into contemporary and often unusual community settings, and believes her call to ministry often finds spirit calling her to be church out of the church!
Lynda loves to cook and feed people, and enjoys entertaining friends and family with her partner Tori, and their four adult sons. On a day away from ministry, you may find Lynda flying a kite on the beach or walking a forest trail in the neighbourhood of their home in White Rock BC.
